A day trip unlike any other: Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe 
An excursion to Europe’s highest railway station is an absolute highlight of your stay in the Holiday Region Interlaken. Delve into the fascinating world of snow, ice and glaciers on the Jungfraujoch – Top of Europe. Admire the spectacular mountain panorama on the train ride from Interlaken Ost, which takes a little under two hours. The trip is particularly spectacular during the winter months.  The railway line runs along the foot of the renowned Three Peaks – the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau – and through the natural idyll of the Jungfrau Region. The spectacular midway stop at Eismeer station will surprise you with its stunning views through a viewing window set into the rockface. Take a souvenir photo between blue-tinged blocks of ice. A wide variety of experiences await you when you reach the Jungfraujoch.

Awe-inspiring moments on the Sphinx platform 
Take in the imposing, year-round ice of the mighty Aletsch glacier, part of the UNESCO Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch World Heritage Site, from the Sphinx Observation Deck. A high-speed lift takes you to the observatory of an international research station. You’ll be whisked up 108 m in only 25 seconds. When you reach the viewing platform, you’ll be able to view the glacier in all its majesty. In good weather, the sun’s rays illuminate the world of snow and ice, making it glisten magically.

Be amazed by the unique mountain panorama 
Take the Gondola Cable Car to First from Grindelwald in just 25 minutes. During your trip, the mountain panorama will take your breath away. First sits at 2168 m above sea level and is the perfect trip for adventurous visitors.

Fun gondola ride 
Your trip to First begins in Grindelwald,  from where a 6-seater gondola will carry you to the top in 25 minutes. Float towards the ridge secure in your gondola. During the ride you’re guaranteed a breathtaking view of the mountain landscape, so sit back and enjoy the dreamlike view. When you arrive at 2168 m above sea level, there are plenty of ways to make the most of your day.

Hikes a plenty 
First is the perfect destination for keen hikers and fans of climbing. There are lots of hiking trails to explore, including a wonderful one-hour hiking route from First to Bachalpsee lake. This blue gem sits at 2265 m above sea level and is surrounded by a moorland landscape of national importance, through which the Mühlebach meanders. This alpine lake has to be seen with your own eyes, no photo can adequately capture its charm. You can continue this trail over the Faulhorn to the Schynige Platte. During this hike, you’ll enjoy repeated views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau, making it one of the most spectacular panoramic tours in the Bernese Oberland.

The mountain panorama on the Schilthorn is worth the cable car trip in winter or summer. From Birg station you can go on the adventurous Thrill Walk or relax on the Allmendhubel. Learn more about how the film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” was made in “Bond World”. Follow in the footsteps of James Bond in the Schilthorn’s Piz Gloria restaurant!

By gondola to the summit and the Piz Gloria 
The cable car takes you from Stechelberg to the summit of the Schilthorn, at 2970 m above sea level, in 30 minutes. Once at the top, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the UNESCO World Heritage Jungfrau-Aletsch with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau as well as 200 other mountain peaks from the Skyline View Platform. On a clear day, you can even see the Mont Blanc range and the Black Forest. There are three lounges on the Schilthorn ridge from which you can enjoy the view in peace and quiet. Fancy holding some snow in your hands even in summer? Well, you can on the north slope of the Schilthorn.

The world of James Bond on the Schilthorn 
Visit the interactive exhibition “Bond World” and learn more about how the film “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” was made. You can watch the key scenes shot on the Schilthorn, with George Lazenby as Agent 007, on a big screen in the Bond Cinema, or you can head to the “007 Walk of Fame”, where the actors of the legendary film immortalised themselves by way of handprints.

Fast and furious sledging run in the wild and romantic Saxettal valley, surrounded by the Schwalmere, Bällenhöchst and Morgenberghorn peaks. Family-friendly by day and romantic by night, this route promises exhilarating sledging fun.
At the rear of the Saxettal valley lies Alp Nessleren, the summer grazing pasture of the region’s cattle. This funnel-type high valley is also an expansive catchment area for the spring water that provides Interlaken’s water supply. Alp Nessleren is reached after an hour-long ascent on foot from the Skipintli Restaurant in Saxeten. The winding descent takes toboggan riders past mostly frozen waterfalls and through mixed forests to the ‘Glühweinbar’ at Balmer’s Hexenhäuschen in Chalberboden, an opportunity to enjoy refreshments and warm up again. From here, you can either undertake the ascent again on foot or continue your ride through the snow-covered winter landscape to the end point of the run at the Pintli Restaurant in Saxeten.

Interlaken is world-famous as an ideal area for paragliding. On an almost daily basis, guests from every corner of the world land on the Höhematte, with its views of the Jungfrau massif. Get your paragliding adventure underway by taking a bus from Interlaken to the starting point at Beatenberg Amisbühl, which is 1350 m above sea level. Your professional tandem pilot will give you some initial instructions during the 20-minute bus ride. You will feel a rush of anticipation as the paraglider is unpacked and checked. Your tandem pilot will secure you to the paraglider which, only a few minutes later, will rise up behind you. You’ll run a few steps on the meadow together and suddenly you’ll feel the paraglider lift you up into the air.
